Description
The District of Lake Country is looking for an experienced Fleet & Equipment Technician to join our team. The Fleet & Equipment Technician position is responsible for a range of functions pertaining to the daily operation, organization and administration of the District vehicle and equipment fleet and workshop facility.
The focus of this role is to maintain the District’s fleet vehicles, including all vehicle and equipment processes and systems while also assisting with financial planning and budgeting and coordinating external service providers. The position requires strong organizational and communication skills as well as robust diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities. The normal work week is 40 hours, Monday to Friday, with on call pager duties for specific periods and potential 7-day work rotations as well as evening and weekend emergencies.
The preferred candidate will have completed a minimum of Grade 12 education or GED equivalent, have a Red Seal Endorsement – Journeyperson Automotive Service Technician or Heavy Duty Mechanic; a minimum of five years practical experience in an automotive repair facility or equivalent; and a valid British Columbia Driver’s Licence. The hourly rate of pay for this unionized position is $40.31 plus full comprehensive benefits package.
