Description
The District of Lake Country is seeking a Term Communications Officer to join their team for 18 months.
The Communications Officer is responsible for developing and implementing a communications strategy and work-plan that uses a variety of physical and digital tools and is part of a team responsible for managing and coordinating the District website and social media accounts. They will research, prepare and disseminate a variety of promotional, informational and publicity material including press releases.
The preferred candidates will have a diploma or higher in journalism, business administration or other communications-related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience, IAP2 training in public participation and engagement, and a valid BC driver’s licence. Additional requirements include a minimum of five years’ experience working in a municipal administrative setting or communications related setting with demonstrated ability in creating promotional material, developing website content and working with various social media programs as well as some familiarity with intranet solutions for internal communications.
The normal work week is 16 hours (two days) within Monday through Friday, with some variable working hours for evening and weekend meetings and events. The workdays will be coordinated with the other part-time Communications Officer. The hourly wage is $40.96 for this Exempt position plus 17.4% in-lieu of all benefits including sick time, vacation, statutory holidays, and pension.
