Description
The District of Lake Country is looking for a Public Works Operator I - Term to join our team.
The Public Works Operator is responsible for maintaining public roads, rights-of-ways, buildings and parks to provide a safe, clean and quality environment for the public. The Public Works Operator will carry out maintenance and repairs to roads, sidewalks, rights-of-way and drainage works, often using heavy equipment to do so while also maintaining parks and public works facilities including turf, trees, planted areas, irrigation supplies, public works buildings and structures. Public Works Operators may also perform other related duties working with other District departments as required.
The normal work week is 40 hours, Monday to Friday, with possible weekend shifts and on call pager duties.
The preferred candidate will have completed a minimum of Grade 12 education, a minimum of 6 months experience in public works or related experience, preferably in a municipal setting, and a valid British Columbia Driver’s Licence. The hourly rate of pay for this unionized position is $27.52 plus 17.4% in-lieu of all benefits including sick time, vacation, statutory holidays, and pension.
