Full-time Term Vacancy (Approximately 4 months, May-August) -

Engineering Technician I

The Engineering Department is seeking a Term Engineering Technician I to join their team.   This position assists with project management and the design, construction, inspection and maintenance, and data analysis of municipal transportation and stormwater infrastructure. Strong verbal and written communications skills are required when working collaboratively with District staff, overseeing professional services providers and contractors and interacting with our customers to provide great service. Operational experience with AutoCAD and GIS is preferred.  

 The position works in a fast-paced environment and requires a high degree of technical problem solving. The normal work week is 40 hours, Monday to Friday, plus the option of an earned time off program.

Candidates who have completed an engineering technology diploma or diploma in a related discipline are preferred, including those with eligibility for a certificate of registration as an applied science technologist. A minimum of two years’ related experience in engineering planning and design with municipal systems and services is also required. The hourly rate of pay for this unionized position is $34.88 (rate as of April 2021) plus 17.4% in-lieu of all benefits including sick time, vacation, statutory holidays, and pension.
